WEEK 108 - POST 2
A little bit more down memory lane (undergraduate degree). It's great to be connected to the alumni office but the more I look up others and find out what they are doing (senior advisors, phd's, directors, working in other countries, city staff, professors, world renown, etc) the more intimidated I get. I definitely don't want to go back for a reunion where everyone will be trying to "one up" each other. UGH.
It's like I was talking about with my business coach, I really don't want my success to be defined by others and I feel like if I went to a reunion, I'd be set back a month or more (in the doldrums!).
But I think using the alumni office to make new connections and forge ahead will be good! Just don't look back. : (
So what's important is that I'm "awake" - I've gotten off that hamster wheel and I see what is real (even if others don't). I'm moving forward with two people in the U.K. - a business coach and an accountability partner and I have so much support right here also! I care more about what I feel and how I'm feeling and about people (and how they are doing), then how intelligent I am and what I've achieved. I don't want my legacy to be about climbing the corporate ladder. (It's just hard to be in the same room as them!)
So it's now 1:30 pm on a Tuesday and I have to get some things done for my part-time job. My business class that I had scheduled this week (content management with hula hooping) has been canceled so that gives me more time tomorrow. Whew! Lawyer's meeting is on Friday.
OK, so this worked in Week 105 - listing some of my "to do's" so I'm going to do it again:
Finish two blog posts and publish (DONE - Wed)
Get back to accountability partner (DONE - Mon)
Get back to alma mater (DONE - Tues)
Get ready for lawyer meeting on Friday (figure out questions!) (DONE - Thurs)
Look for new web designer (DONE - a bit on Mon, more on Fri)
Get back to old web designer
Finish another blog post
Good luck to all of us trying to cross some things off our weekly list!
